Medford, OR – October 25, 2024 The Builders Association of Southern Oregon (BASO) is excited to announce the appointment of Brad Hicks, former President and CEO of The Chamber of Medford and Jackson County, as Interim Executive Officer. Hicks brings nearly 30 years of experience in association management and legislative relations, making him an ideal choice to lead BASO during this transformative period.

The BASO Board approached Hicks due to his extensive connections and respected reputation within Southern Oregon’s business community. His leadership is seen as pivotal during this critical time for the local construction industry.

During his tenure as President and CEO of The Chamber of Medford and Jackson County, Hicks earned a reputation as one of the top chamber executives in the nation, holding leadership roles at the Western Association of Chamber Executives (WACE), the American Chamber of Commerce Executives (ACCE), and the United States Chamber of Commerce (USCC), specifically serving on its Committee of 100.

“Brad Hicks’ deep-rooted understanding of Southern Oregon’s unique needs makes him the perfect leader to guide BASO through this period of growth and change,” said Travis Snyder, Owner of Snyder Creek Development and Managing Partner/CEO of Precision Electric. “His leadership will set us up for success, and I’m eager to witness the continued evolution of this essential organization.”

BASO also extends its gratitude to outgoing Executive Officer Brad Bennington, who dedicated nearly a decade to the association since 2014. “Brad’s commitment to the builders and subcontractors of Southern Oregon is greatly appreciated.” said Andy Bellamy, Owner of ServiceMaster by LOMROE and the Board Chair of Builders Association Southern Oregon.

As Interim Executive Officer, Hicks is focused on preparing BASO for its next permanent leader. He expressed enthusiasm for the role, stating: “I’m honored to have been asked by the BASO Board to assist during this transitional period. Associations like BASO need steady leadership in these turbulent times, and I look forward to providing that support.”

Hicks also acknowledged the significant housing challenges facing Oregon, noting: “Oregon is grappling with a housing shortage and regulatory barriers that make it difficult to close the gap. I won’t call this a ‘listening tour,’ but I intend to engage closely with the Board, BASO members, and prospective members to shape the association’s future.”
