Dear Britt Family,

I am very excited to share the 2014 season of the Britt Classical Festival with you! As you know, the Britt Orchestra is a spectacular and world-class group of musicians, and it is a tremendous honor to be this organization’s Music Director. As soon as I heard about the appointment, I started dreaming of what we will bring to life in the summer of 2014, and the programs that we’ve selected are packed with masterpieces and brilliant works of music that reflect the virtuosity and passionate music-making of our orchestra.

Each work that we will play is special and carefully chosen to be a part of a diverse “menu” of music that we will present this coming summer. The programs are wonderfully varied, including American, Russian, and Mahler-themed concerts and featuring some of the music world’s most exciting soloists. I’m writing a piece for the Opening Night concert to celebrate the Britt family and our shared future, and we will include timeless repertoire such as Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5 and Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 4. Further highlights include soloist Augustin Hadelich, one of the most gifted and expressive violinists I’ve ever met, and the spectacularly engaging Storm Large as our vocalist in Weill’s Seven Deadly Sins. We will close the season with Mahler’s Symphony No. 1 in a performance that showcases the great spirit and musicianship of the Britt Orchestra.

I can’t wait to see all of you at the performances, and I also look forward to being a part of the beautiful southern Oregon community. Thank you for your support of our orchestra.

See you during the Festival!

Teddy Abrams
