“What I dream of is an art of balance, of purity and serenity devoid of troubling or depressing subject-matter, an art which might be for every mentality, every worker, be he business man or writer, like an appeasing influence, like a mental soother, something like a good armchair in which to rest from physical fatigue.” ~Henri Matisse

These are inspiring words from Matisse as we adapt to our new President and Cabinet. For artists and art enthusiasts,
Art Presence provides more than a diversion. It is a real, uplifting experience. Join us!

New Beginnings—New Beginnings is a two-month exhibition featuring spring-related works of art in the gallery starting Friday, March 3 and continuing through Sunday, April 30. Join us for a reception on Saturday, March 4 from 1:00-3:00pm. Our faithful friends Matt and Rebecca Stuart of Minstrel Streams will play live music, and as always we will have wine and hors d’oeuvres for you to enjoy while getting to know the artists.

At this month’s reception you will also have an opportunity to hear author Diana Google read from her new book of essays, entitled “Wisdom of the Heart.” This is a previously scheduled author reading that was preempted by Winter Storm Helena. With all the excitement surrounding her new book, including many promotional events, this reading was not easy to reschedule and we’re fortunate to present it now. As before, Diana’s reading will be accompanied by paintings by Barbara Kostal. Working hand-in-hand as inspiration and illustration, each of Coogle’s essays was inspired by one of Kostal’s paintings, which also appear in the book. There will not be an extended exhibition of the paintings as originally planned, so come and see them while you can! Diana and Barbara begin their presentation at 2:00pm.

We will have another reception on Saturday, April 1, from 1:00-3:00pm. Details and author readings to be announced in next month’s issue.
