This week, the archeology team from Southern Oregon University is back excavating new sites along West Main Street and up in the Britt Gardens. Earlier this week, an Avista Utility crew unearthed what appeared to be artifacts located in the historic “Chinese Quarter.” As per state law, SOU archeologist Chelsea Rose was called-in for further exploration. Avista and other crews are now preparing for a major street improvement project leading from Main Street up to Britt, requiring the existing gas, water and power lines to be relocated.
