Jacksonville, Oregon Police Chief David Towe Announces Prescription Drug Deposit Box

The Jacksonville Police Department has a new Prescription Drug Deposit Box located in the lobby of the police station. The secure box now enables residents to drop-off items in a secure location. Installing this box will assist with keeping prescription medicines away from children, out of landfills, the water supply and waste treatment systems.

The following items may be dropped-off:

•        Prescriptions

•        Over-the-counter medications

•        Vitamins

•        Medication samples

•        Medications for pets

•        Ointments

•        Lotions

•        Liquid medication in glass or leak-proof containers.

The following items WILL NOT be accepted in the box.

•        Needles (sharps)

•        Thermometers

•        Bloody or infectious waste

•        Medications from businesses or clinics

•        Hydrogen peroxide

•        Aerosol cans or inhalers

Items may be dropped off during regular business hours.
