Good Evening All…  Our movie in June 2016 is one of those films you don’t hear much about anymore, but one which was highly-popular when it was released.  So said the book from which it was made… God Is My Co-pilot, starring that stellar good-looking leading man, Dennis Morgan… with support from Raymond Massey and Alan Hale and especially from Richard Loo.  Indeed, the book was a Book Of The Month club selection which hit the bestseller charts.

The story is a free adaptation of the book… the people are true… (well for the most part) and the author, Robert Scott, lived the life portrayed by Dennis Morgan.  Having said that, Warner Brothers took considerable liberty with the screenplay.  Nonetheless, the film is an accurate look back at American attitudes during World War 2… It is generally regarded as one of the best films made during the war

As a special treat, R.S. Hunter will give a short introduction to this film by talking about fighter pilots and their feelings as they went into combat.  His father-in-law, Red Campbell, was a renowned R.A.F. Hurricane pilot during the war and is the subject of a biography, Where Eagles Fly written by Richard.  You may have met Richard and his wife Kerry at one of our Friday night movies.

God Is My Co-pilot is one of my favorite Dennis Morgan films and I have been wanting to run this one for a long time.  It screens on June 17, 2016 at 7 PM at Old City Hall.

See you at the movies
