PHILLIP KOENIG sings at the Jacksonville, Oregon Library, Naversen Room, Sunday, September 30th 3-4pm, 340 W. “C”St. PHILLIP KOENIG-Tenor with Susan White-Soprano, Anita Caster-Mezzo-soprano, John Hall-Baritone and Doris Sjolund-Pianist perform selections from Handel, Mendelssohn,Vivaldi, Mozart, Schubert, Mendelssohn, Purcell, Distler Jacque Le Feire, John Dowland, Cole Porter and Richard Rodgers.

Phillip, a tenor, is a Southern Oregon native who began his career and showed interest in music when he took piano lessons from Margaret Brown at the age of six. In elementary school his music teacher was Doris Sjolund and in high school Sean Warren and Mark
Reppert. He works with his church choir as director and pianist. He has been with the Rogue Valley Chorale for 12 years and the Southern Oregon Repertory Singers for four years. Phillip has sung several solos with the Rogue Valley Chorale including the extensive recitative in Bach’s “Wachet auf ruft uns die Stimme,” Bernstein’s “Lord’s Prayer” from his Mass, and the role of Doc in the semi-staged production of “Most Happy Fella.” Most recently Phillip was the tenor soloist in the Mozart Requiem performed on 9/11, a service of remembrance. Phillip has been on two trips to Europe with the Chorale most recently to England and Wales where he was a featured soloist for both anthems and
special programs. The trip included singing at St. Marks Church in Cheltenham, Canterbury Cathedral and York Minster as well as several other churches.
