Jacksonville water-colorist, Tony Laenen will be the featured artist at the ART’clectic Artisans Market at the Art Center adjacent to the historic Courthouse during the month of May 2016. In addition, you’ll be able to view some of his bird watercolors at Blue Door Garden Store, located at 130 W. California Street.

Although watercolor is his preferred medium, Tony will also show a number of acrylic and oil paintings. His subject matter is diverse, from animals, birds, flowers and landscapes. Since settling into a home next to the Historic Cemetery several years ago, he has been accumulating a repertoire of local scenes, including many of Jacksonville’s historic buildings.

Late to art, Tony began painting after retirement in 2000 after a long career as a hydrologist with the U.S. Geological Survey.

ART’clectic is a group of local artisans that join together several times a year for a “Pop-Up” market. This spring’s event will be held Thursday through Sunday from May 5th, 2016 through the 29th at the Art Center building at 206 N. 5th Street in Jacksonville.
