Britt and the Oregon Center for the Arts at SOU are partnering to bring the Globe Quartet to town for a residency. In addition to their public performances, the Quartet will perform for students at Jacksonville Elementary, Central Point Middle School and North Medford High School. These programs are presented at no cost to the schools, thanks in part to a TourWest grant from the Western States Arts Federation (WESTAF).

ABOUT GLOBE SAXOPHONE QUARTET:
Four internationally renowned saxophonists—Rhett Bender, Jennifer Turpen, Scott Turpen and John Bleuel—join together to form the Globe Saxophone Quartet. The group began playing together in 1994 as graduate students at the University of Georgia. Early successes include twice competing in the semi-final round of the Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition and winning first prize in 1995 at the NACWAPI National Symposium Chamber Music Competition. The quartet members are professors of saxophone at universities in Georgia, Oregon and Wyoming. Each summer the Globe Saxophone Quartet serves as faculty-in-residence at the Siskiyou Saxophone Workshop in Ashland, Oregon. The quartet has performed internationally in China and on chamber music series in the U.S. including the Wyoming Cultural Outreach, Community Concerts Series and Britt Festival. GSQ concerts feature the beautiful and multi-faceted timbre of four saxophones, with musical styles running the gamut of classical, jazz and world music.
