SEPTEMBER’S FEATURE FILM

The Free Classic Movie Nights at Old City Hall in Jacksonville, Oregon have become anticipated, community events! Our own Mayor, Paul Becker, organizes these fun evenings. This one is on September 14, 7pm.

If you are ready for a laugh, COME SEPTEMBER is the film for you.

COME SEPTEMBER draws one into a fantasy land, were the super-rich are morally outstanding, the handsome men are really handsome and the beautiful women are more than beautiful.  It is in every sense pure entertainment.

1961 COME SEPTEMBER is a five bell ringer… filled with plots and sub-plots all revolving around the up-and-down romantic twists and turns in what are anything but normal relationships between men and women on their way to nubile bliss.  Aided by an intelligent script, the real-life couple, Sandra Dee and Bobby Darin, match the two stars of the film, Rock Hudson and Gina Lollibrigida, laugh for laugh.  Walter Slezak, in his supporting role, is the catalyst in all the action, which takes place in an expensive villa in Italy.  Though Hudson owns the villa, he is there so seldom that Slezak operates it as a hotel for invited guests except for Hudson’s annual visits in September… hence the title, COME SEPTEMBER.

To further complicate Hudson’s life, his mistress (Gina Lollibrigida) has decided to dump him and marry a stiff upper-lipped Englishman.  All of this provides for an endearing romantic comedy with some of the best color photography ever seen of Italy.
