Crater Drama Presents 7 plays, conceived, constructed, rehearsed and performed all in 24 hours!

The process is simple, or maybe not so much. Writers, directors, and a handful of actors all gather on the evening of Friday, February 5th to begin their journey into the world of a 24 hour theatre production. Once the students enter the theatre, they begin a process that usually occurs over several months of rehearsal jam packed into a single day. The students, a combination of actors, directors, and young writers all gather to produce an evening’s worth of short plays. The actors pick out a costume and a prop, and then tell the group of writers their skills and what they wish to do; from singing to dancing to dying a dramatic death on stage. The possibilities are endless! The writers then take the actors’ vision and put it into short plays, painstakingly written, from midnight until six in the morning. Hot off the press is where the directors step in, taking their original scripts and actors to begin producing their theater piece. From then on out the actors get the show rolling (with the help of the directors of course.) Memorizing, and developing their characters in a process they usually have several months to do, the very afternoon before they perform on stage for a live audience. This is theatre in the raw: There are no under studies, no safety nets or last minute changes. Despite that, watching their performances is a truly magical experience. Come see the passion of the theatre at its finest.

This event opens Saturday, February 6, 2016. The doors open at 7pm, show starts at 8pm in the Crater Performing Arts Center 655 N 3rd street, Central Point. The cost is $5 for students and $7 for general admission, all proceeds go toward future productions by Crater Drama.
