BrittPerformanceGardenThe 2014 schedule for Britt’s new performance garden includes a variety of musical events, including concerts by local bands, educational and participatory events for all ages, and free concerts offered in coordination with Britt’s Classical Festival, and education and engagement programs.

The Performance Garden offers a smaller, more intimate venue, seating up to 150. It is located just inside the main gates at the Britt park.

Britt President and CEO Donna Briggs says, “Nearly three years in the making, the Performance Garden will complete the vision of the Britt Board of Directors and will be a cultural cornerstone for the community, adding to our creative vitality through a wide-range of programming. Thanks to the incredible work of many, we are offering 12 confirmed programs in our first year, exceeding our inaugural year expectations.”

Programming for the PG was provided in part by an award from the James F. and Marion L. Miller Foundation. The 2014 Performance Garden lineup is:

June 20: Britt Rock Camp Student Showcase (free event)

June 29: Uke-Along (free event)

July 9: Sing-Along with the Rogue Suspects (free event)

July 25: Project Trio

July 27: Rhythm at Britt: Shake Rattle and Roll with the Shakerman

July 31: “Once Upon a Star” Classical Children’s Concert

August 7: Master Class with violinist Augustin Hadelich

August 10: Chamber Music Concert I with members of the Britt Orchestra (free event)

August 13: Chamber Music Concert II with members of the Britt Orchestra (free event)

August 16: Improvisation Workshop with Time for Three

August 24: Dabbling in Dance with Salsa Brava

August 30: Patchy Sanders

September 4: Mariachi Brittfest with Las Colibri / Mariachi Centella / Ballet Folklorico Ritmo Alegre

In addition to this schedule, the Performance Garden will serve as the setting for the Table Rock City pre-concert music series, Classical Festival pre-concert conversations, receptions and more. The Performance Garden will also be available to rent for weddings and special events.

Tickets for these events are on sale to Britt members now, and will go on sale to the general public this Friday, May 16 at 9 a.m., along with the full 2014 Britt lineup. Britt Festivals provides diverse live performances, an incomparable Classical Festival and dynamic education programs that create a sense of discovery and community. Through ongoing education and audience development programs, Britt educates new generations of listeners, helping them discover the wonder of music and performance. In addition to presenting concerts, Britt Festivals maintains a formal education program through the Britt Institute. Established in 1985, the Britt Institute hosts a wide variety of learning opportunities through a multi-faceted approach of summer camps, workshops, grade school programs, lectures and adult learning opportunities.
