Artist and Gardener, a new shop in Jacksonville, is a collaborative effort—between a gardener with a love of nature, plants, flowers and animals—joined by an artist that loves to draw and paint them! In the middle is a natural love for antiques and home furnishings. The shop also represents other artists, including painters, jewelry designers, and ceramicists.

Owners Mark Sutter and Todd Lovett are looking forward to meeting you and becoming a part of our wonderful community!

Mark Sutter, the gardener, began his extensive career in Vacaville, California where he was groundskeeper for the “Nut Tree,” a very popular destination for travelers and locals, alike. Besides gardening, his career includes floral and interior design work. He continues to work with a core of longtime clients who rely on him for outside gardening, interior design, party and event planning and holiday decoration.

Todd Lovett, the artist, has painted his entire life in tandem with a long retail career, much of which was spent with Saks Fifth Avenue in San Francisco. In addition to having consistent watercolor painting commissions, he has a background in surface textile design. He attended and graduated from the California School of Professional Fabric Design in Berkeley, California. After graduation, Todd taught the school’s watercolor workshops for several years and also freelanced for a wallpaper company that used two of his designs for period reproduction wallpaper for Steven Spielberg’s movie, “Lincoln.” Today, he continues to freelance for a variety of companies and license artwork for products ranging from area rugs, plates, tile vignettes and puzzles.

Artist and Gardener is located at 130 S. 3rd Street and may be reached at 541-702-2555. Hours: Wednesday-Saturday 10:00am-5:00pm and Sunday 11:00am-5:00pm.
